Sample Room Loot 2 Review: Zenutrients Gugo, Palmolive Anti-hair Fall Shampoo and Conditioner, Palmolive Soap

This is a short review of my second loot from Sample Room. My second loot was focused on my need to address my extreme hair fall, post pregnancy side effect.

  1. Zenutrients Gugo
  2. Palmolive Anti-Hair Fall Shampoo and Conditioner
  3. Palmolive Charcoal Soap

2015-10-17 17.28.43

My first loot was mostly skin care items plus the Burt’s Bees lip balm. This second loot was all about hair and my curiosity to try out the Palmolive Charcoal Soap. For reference, my hair is the most neglected part of my body. I am very vain when it comes to my skin (which is why I cried when I got chicken pox recently – oh the scars!). E knows about this, I don’t carry a comb and my hair care routine would only entail me washing my hair everyday (except on weekends when I deem it necessary for it to take a break). So this hair set (plus the charcoal soap) is new for me. Now for the results:

Zen Nutrients Hair Strengthening Gugo

For this product, right off the bat I give it 5 out 5 stars! This is very effective, even if E doesn’t like the smell (but I do!). I tried this for almost two weeks and I can say that my extreme and excessive hair fall decreased by about 75%! I just massage this baby on my scalp, leave it on overnight and I noticed the difference 2 days after using it. It didn’t just help address my hair loss too. I noticed that my super thick hair became very manageable. SRP is around P500 if I remember correctly but one bottle is good for a month or two. You can still get it for P250 points in Sample Room.

Palmolive Naturals Anti-Hair Fall Shampoo and Conditioner

My go to shampoo has always been the pink Sunsilk shampoo. I like the smell and that it leaves my hair manageable. I do use Palmolive every now and then because of the irresistible scent it has. I was excited to try on Palmolive Shampoo and Conditioner because I know that I am in for a treat (scent wise). It didn’t fail my expectations! The scent was super relaxing, even if I had a hard time lathering up the shampoo. The conditioner was good too (and it helped me realize that shampoo is never enough so clap clap!). Will I be replacing my tried and tested Sunsilk shampoo? Maybe. The conditioner is good but I just received loot #3, wherein I got the Pantene 3 minute miracle conditioner, so let’s see.

Palmolive Charcoal Soap

Never again will I ever use this soap. The scent is just so wrong. I can’t identify the specific scent it has but this is such a disappointment from the usually oh-so good smell that Palmolive products have.

Sample Room Loot 1 Review: Olay CC Cream, Glyderm, and Burt’s Bees Lip Balm

I received my first loot from Sample Room more than a week ago. For the 1000 VIP points that I had, I chose to use it to get the following:

  1. Olay CC Cream (Light) (300 points)
  2. Glyderm Stretchmarks Cream (300 points)
  3. Burt’s Bees Refreshing Lip Balm with Pink Grapefruit (100 points)

I would have wanted to get more items, but you are limited to 3 items per transaction, not really sure why since a member should get as much items per transaction so that the shipping fee is very cost efficient. Any who, the reason I hand picked those items was because I wanted to hide the scars from my recent chicken pox battle (yes it’s a battle because I took care of my skin for the longest time and then I get chicken pox – hello scars), I needed some Glyderm for my stretch marks ( I have been using Glyderm for the longest time and it really works – will post another review some time), and because I wanted to try a new lip balm brand (I love Body Shop’s balm, but I think it’s time for me to try a new brand). After waiting for a few days, I got my first loot and I used all right away! I have been using 3 products for more than a week and here’s what I have to say about the three items I used:

Olay Total Effects Pore Minimizing CC Cream (Light)

I have been a fan of Olay ever since I started using it when I turned 25! I had the wonderful opportunity to handle this brand (agency side) and I learned that I needed to start taking care of my skin as early as possible. I guess even for our skin, prevention of wrinkles is better than “curing” it when it starts to appear.

My daily skin care regimen consists of using the Olay Total Effects Foaming Cleanser and using the Olay Total Effects Day Cream (Gentle) with SPF 15 (I actually tried the normal day cream but I noticed that I started to have small pimples on my forehead so I switched to the Gentle one instead). This is my facial skin care regimen day and night. I just top off my moisturizer with bb cream, I just want to keep it as simple as possible. Since I have started using Olay, I noticed that I had lesser breakouts. In the case that I do experience breakouts, it is not as severe as it was before.

I’ve always wanted to try the CC Cream, but given my sensitive skin, I was hesitant to buy it because there’s a chance that my money will go to waste if  I experience any adverse reaction to the cream. So I was super happy when I saw that Sample Room had it! (Yay me!)

My initial reaction when I applied it was that, I might have gotten the wrong shade. It might have been better if I opted for the medium shade. After applying it evenly on my face, I realized that I got the right shade for my skin tone. Coverage wise, it is not similar to the BB creams out there. On that note it can further improve, but it was able to even out my skin tone and make my pores look smaller (which is good because visible pores really is a big concern for me!).

I have been using it for more than a week, and I will definitely buy this product again. It is something that I will gladly add to my daily skin care regimen.

Glyderm Stretchmarks Cream

I started using this 2 months post partum. I tried Bio Oil but it didn’t really work for me and I didn’t like the smell (although for some they like it) that is why I tried this.

Short story, I needed this because I forgot to buy one. It works for me and yes, I will continue buying this product. I will be posting before and after photos soon, on a different blog post.

Burt’s Bees Refreshing Lip Balm with Pink Grapefruit

Big fan of lip balms ever since I was in high school. This is a basic must have for any girl so I was super excited to try this product out. Upon application the texture was not similar to other balms, but the smell was super good. After using it for more than a week I noticed that my lips were not as chapped as before (I have extremely chapped lips because I breastfeed Alex a lot – see I sometimes forget to drink water after  breastfeed her hence the chapped lips).

I’m really not sure yet if I will buy this. I want to try out the other Burt’s Bees variants first before I decide, but overall this is a good item!

Overall, I was extremely satisfied with my first Sample Room Loot. Can’t wait to share with you my review for my second loot from Sample Room!

Sample Room Ph

For the longest time, I’ve always wanted to try out Sample Room. I have seen reviews from other mommy bloggers and it seems very  interesting. During my 2 week sick leave, thank you very much chicken pox, I tried to get as much information as I can about Sample Room. I checked out their site, and followed them on Instagram.

Product Review: Honeysuckle Breast Milk Storage Bags

I’m a working mom and I nurse, this means that I will need to pump and store every 3 hours at work. I have no problem with this, I actually like it because it reminds me of the reason why I am determined to become a better me, for bunny.

The whole pumping part is easy, it is the storing that can be tricky. See, before bunny latched properly I would pump and store but directly to her bottles. This was okay but I had to deal with limited fridge space. Thus resulted to my search for breast milk bags for my liquid gold. After months of searching, during my maternity leave, I finally decided to try the Honeysuckle Breast Milk storage bags. I mean, I need to find the perfect bags because I intend to breast feed bunny for at least 6 months.

Office fridge breast milk chiller take over!

I have read a lot of positive reviews from moms like me, this is a very important factor for me. Yes, it is the top rated milk bag in the US but I needed to check if moms really recommend it. What is striking about the Honeysuckle bags is that you can store it easily and it is space efficient too! So if you are like me, who do not have a lot of fridge space, this is a good buy!

Another thing that I liked about the Honeysuckle bags is that it has two zip locks, so this gives me assurance that the milk I will store for bunny will not be wasted. I also get further assurance because it has thick wide sides. Believe me, I tried flipping the bags over and no milk was wasted! The reason why this is important is because I work in Makati but live in Cavite, so on my transpo on the way home the bags will experience a bumpy way home.

2015-03-10 15.52.36

I tried using the regular bags (which can store up to 6 oz) and the smaller bags (up to 4 oz). I like the smaller bags more just because I can ration the milk I pump into serving sizes for bunny (now she can consumer 3 oz per feeding). The price ranges from 380- 400+ depending on the bag you will purchase. You can get it online through the Honeysuckle Ph Facebook page.

Product Review: Summer Swaddle Me

As a new mom I’m always on the look out for products for my little one. On my last day in the office E and I dropped by SM Makati to look at the baby stuff available. That day I saw the Summer SwaddleMe product (it costs around P450 if I remember correctly). I started re-searching about it and after reading the feedback, I knew I had to get one for my little Alex.

What is the Summer SwaddleMe product and is it effective?

The Summer SwaddleMe product helps you easily swaddle your baby instead of using blankets. Swaddling your newborn helps keep her warm, secure and it also helps keep her from waking up because of her startle reflex (that is helping her sleep longer).

The great thing about SwaddleMe is that it is designed to stay in place vs. blankets which will get loose after some time. So when we got home from the hospital, I tried swaddling Alex using SwaddleMe! At first E was skeptical about the claim that it will her stay asleep longer. But when we did get her to sleep at 9PM she woke up after 4 hours! She woke up because she was hungry and not because of her startle reflex. After feeding her, she slept again for 3 hours!

My burrito baby!

My burrito baby!

We tried swaddling her again and again and it is very effective! Until today (1 months and 16 days after) we still swaddle her at night and she sleeps 4-5 hours straight! Of course I tried days not using SwaddleMe and she sleeps shorter hours.

How To Use SwaddleMe

I got this image from Summer Infant. Use this as your guide in swaddling your baby. Just remember to keep your little one’s crib free from any loose blankies to prevent SIDS.

The Price and Product Rating:

Now, I mentioned above that it costs P450 in malls, right? But you actually buy it in online stores for P350 pesos. I actually bought three (way more than I needed) and will eventually let go of one soon (perhaps in a giveaway).

So if you will be expecting your little one soon, Summer Swaddle Me is a must have (at least one or two).
